Egg Reports

The students investigate some of the creatures that hatch.

Baby Chicks

By

Amethyst

The hen makes a nest into the hay. She digs and digs to make the nest.

The eggs go into the nest from the mommy. The hen doesn’t need the rooster to make her eggs, but the chicks don’t hatch if they don’t have a daddy. The hen sits on the eggs and keeps them warm and safe so no one can ever get them and eat them.

The eggs look round or oval. They could be green or blue or brown or white. They are the size of an Easter Egg.

The baby grows up inside the egg first before it can hatch. When the baby wants to come out, it cracks the egg. It uses a special thing on its beak to help it crack the egg open. When the baby first comes out of the egg, it is smooth because it is slimy. When it dries, then it gets fluffy.

Baby chicks look like babies. They are little and have wings. They have two feet. They are yellow with fluffy feathers. Sometimes, they are brown.

I like the way they hatch.

Baby Penguins

By

Cody

The penguin make a nest to lay the eggs down in the nest. The nest is made with their beak, grass, it could be built out of the ground or rocks.

The mommy’s tummy makes one and two eggs. She puts them in the nest. The eggs look like white circles. They have brown on them.

The mommy and daddy take turns taking care of the egg. When the daddy takes care of the egg, the mommy swims to get food. Emperor penguin daddies put the egg on his feet to keep it warm.

Babies hatch from the eggs. They use their beak and their foot to crack it and come out. Then there are lots of baby penguins.

The Crocodile

By

Dustin

Crocodiles make a nest with leaves. During the night, eggs come out from the mom in the nest. The mom covers the eggs with leaves.

The mom sits on the nest because the mom has eggs and the dad doesn’t have eggs. The mom keeps the eggs warm with her body and with the leaves.

The eggs are round and white. They are a little bit little. They are a little bit bigger than a hen’s eggs.

When the eggs hatch, the babies start moving and the eggs crack. The mom can hear them and she helps get them out of the nest. The mom teaches the baby to swim and hunt even when she is a baby.

I like crocodiles because they eat animals.

Frogs

By

Eric

The frogs don’t have a nest because the little eggs not supposed to be in the nest. Frogs lay their eggs in the water on a plant or they float on the top of the water.

The eggs are in the body of the mommy. Then she put her eggs in the water. Mommy’s have lots of eggs. Because they little, it is easy have a lot.

The eggs look like little circles. In the middle of the circle, I don’t know if they are black or brown. The out of the circle looks like jelly. All the eggs are together.

No one sits on the eggs because the eggs are in the water. It tricky when the eggs are in the water.

When they are done, the baby swims out of the egg. A baby frog is not a frog, it is a tadpole. It looks like a circle and a tail. It doesn’t have legs. When it grows, first the back legs come and then the front legs come and then the tail goes away.

Frogs swim when they are babies and then they grow up and they jump. They don’t have to live in the water anymore, it’s too tricky.

The Hummingbird

By

Fiona

A mommy hummingbird makes a nest. It has to be made by the silk from spiderwebs, and some feathers, leaves, branches, even some red stuff. The nest can be in lots of places. Some are big or little or medium or really really small or really big big big.

Then, the mommy hummingbird lays two eggs in her nest. The eggs are really really tiny. They are white and they are as small as a pea. The mommy hummingbird takes care of the eggs. She carefully rolls the eggs over after time so it doesn’t hatch on the bottom and the baby hummingbird doesn’t bump her or him head on the nest. She uses her beak to roll the eggs.

The eggs hatch in the summertime when the flowers are already blooming. The babies have no feathers and they can’t see for a little while so the mommy takes care of them. The mommy has to watch so the baby doesn’t fall out of the nest on the ground because her whole life is her babies.

The Sea Turtle

By

Mai-Thy

The sea turtles nest is in the sand. She uses her legs to dig a hole and that is the nest. The mommy turtle makes the nest in the same place where she was born.

The eggs are in the mommy’s body. She has a lot of eggs. The eggs come from the mommy from a hole in her bottom. She drops them in the sand very gently so they don’t break.

The egg is round. The egg is white. The eggs can be different because the mommy’s are different. The mommy lays 100 or more eggs all together.

When the mommy is done with the eggs, she hide her eggs to let no one take it away or eat it. When she hide them, she leave them alone. She put sand on top, then she goes back in the ocean. The sand keeps the eggs warm.

When they are done, the babies crack the eggs in the sand and then they crawl to the outside of the sand. When they are bigger, they go in the water like their mommy.

The Sea Turtle

By

Myles Lopez

Sea Turtles make a nest on the beach. The turtle makes a hole in the sand. That is their nest.

The eggs are in the turtle. The eggs are in the mom turtle. The eggs come out of the tail almost. All the eggs go out into the nest. Turtles lay a lot of eggs.

The eggs look like circles. They are shiny and pretty. They are a little bit big. Sea Turtles lay more than 100 eggs.

When the eggs go in the nest, the turtle hides them by digging with their flipper arms and puts sand on top so they can hide the nest and nobody can steal the eggs. When the mom buries the eggs, she leaves her eggs to go back into the ocean. The ocean is very big. The sand keeps the eggs warm instead of the mom. If the nest gets cold, then boy turtles and born. Girls come from warm nests.

When the baby is ready to hatch, they crack the egg so they can come out. They use a teeth to break out.

A baby looks almost like the mama, but little. The shell is small too.
